Intersect Healthcare Systems has been accepted into NVIDIA Inception, NVIDIA's program for startups building solutions with artificial intelligence. Inception gives member companies access to technical training, developer resources, and NVIDIA's network of partners and customers.
For us, the timing could not be better.
From the start, our mission has been to bring the expertise of academic medicine to the communities that need it most. Artificial intelligence is one of the most important ways a small platform can do that at scale, but only where it changes a clinical or financial decision, and only when it can be shown to work.
How that principle shapes our use of AI
- Prior authorization. Our platform reads the clinical record against a payer's requirements and flags missing documentation before a request is submitted, so fewer requests come back denied and patients start treatment sooner.
- Genomic decision support. Our molecular tumor board workflow brings variant annotation and clinical trial information together in one place, so community physicians can take part in the same conversations as academic specialists.
- Imaging and pathology. We are working to bring pathology images and AI-derived findings into the same record as a patient's genomic results.
- A patient-facing assistant, built with explicit guardrails and formally evaluated before it reaches patients.
Inception's resources map directly onto this work, from NVIDIA's open-source medical imaging tools to its training programs for our engineers and the University of Florida professionals who will join our team.
Being based at the University of Florida Innovation Hub makes this especially meaningful. UF has built one of the country's strongest academic AI ecosystems, and we are proud to be part of it.
